Frequently Asked Questions

Q.) How much does the system cost?

A.) ElderWatch offers two versions of GrandCare's system based upon individual needs.

A full featured system, GC-Como, is available professionally installed and configured in the home for $2995. This includes GCTV, 6 motion detectors, 1 door sensor, and two call buttons. Wellness sensors, as well as additional motion and door sensors and call buttons, are available for purchase.

For those who wish to use GCTV to communicate with loved ones but do not require any sensors or monitoring, we offer GC-Express, professionally installed and configured for $1695. Technically-inclined individuals can purchase GC-Express without installation for $1395.

A server subscription fee of $49 per month is required for GC-Como and $39 per month for GC-Express. These are paid on a quarterly basis.

For more information on any of our offerings, please contact us.

Q.) Why is this so expensive?

A.) We install a high-end, professional, reliable product. Consider, though, the price of assisted living. In the Detroit Metro Area, the average cost of assisted living is currently $3029 per month. For $2995 installed, if the peace of mind offered by ElderWatch can keep your loved one independent in the home for even one additional month before moving to assisted living, the system has more than paid for itself. Besides, once purchased, you can move the system into assisted living with your loved one.

Q.) What geographic area do you serve?

A.) We are available for professional installation of GC-Como or GC-Express anywhere within the state of Michigan. For self-installation of GC-Express, we ship nationwide.

We can arrange installation of a GrandCare system for professional caregivers or assisted living centers anywhere in the country. Please contact us for details.

Q.) What if my mother doesn't like the idea of being "monitored" in her home?

A.) A solution by ElderWatch can provide peace-of-mind without being intrusive. It is not necessarily a "monitoring" system, simply a way to stay in touch and be alerted if a problem arises. For more information, see our privacy page.

Q.) Do ElderWatch solutions require much technical skill to use?

A.) After our professional installation, it is very easy for caregivers and seniors to use the system. Seniors only need to know how to watch television, and caregivers interact through the simple and streamlined user interface. No technical or computer knowledge is required.

Q.) As a professional caregiver, aren't your products competing with my business?

A.) ElderWatch provides solutions to compliment the human touch offered by professional caregivers. Technology cannot ever replace personal care, and our solutions are designed to improve service and reduce costs associated with being a caregiver. By allowing 24/7 access to key information about clients, ElderWatch products allow caregivers to be more efficient by eliminating guesswork from care.

Q.) Why am I having trouble logging into the website?

A.) Double-check the username and password provided during installation. Remember, usernames and passwords are case-sensitive.

It is possible that you are already logged in. If you see a "log out" button, then you are logged in already and the user interface is being stopped by a popup-blocking program. To allow the interface to appear, follow these instructions:

In Internet Explorer, find "Pop-up Blocker" under the Tools menu. Add "www.grandcare.com" to the list of approved sites.

In Firefox, find "Options" under the Tools menu. Click on "allowed sites" and add "www.grandcare.com" to the list.
